Delicious Creepy Crawlies

Have you ever tried to a spider or how about a cricket. In the United States many people frown upon on the fact of eating insects.  In other countries around the world many people think of eating insects as a delicacy.  In China many people serve there food with insects.
I watched a video by TED telling how insects are more nutritous than other animals.  There are also a lot more insects in the world than cows over even chickens.  So the supply for insects is way more afordable and high.  If it ever came down to it I probably would eat bugs just add some spices to make it taste better.  I have eaten a worm once when i was little and it wasn't half bad. Maybe we should all think about eating bugs in the future.

Black Friday!

Black Friday was held on November 26, 2010.  Many people went out early, but my friends Alaina, Breanna and I went in the afternoon.  There still was ton of people out. We all went shopping for Christmas presents.  I got a good portion of my shopping done.  I got presents for my mom and Alaina.  I still have to get presents for Hayaley, my sister and my dad.  I don't have a job so I get all my money from good grades and chores.  I get 10 dollars for my weekly chores and 50 dollars for getting all A's.  I sometimes ask my parents for money early so that I am able to get all the gifts that I need to get.

The sales on Black Friday were pretty good.  There were many stores that lowered there prices quite much.  Express had everything in the store for 40% off until 12 o'clock and then % off after 12.  I bought my mom a cardigan from there and I got her some lotion and perfume from Bath and Body Works.  Black Friday was a blast and I can't wait to go again next year.

Don't Go In Debt During the Holiday's

Every year many people go into debt during the holidays.  Especially for Christmas presents.  In my family my parents tell my sister and I to pick two gifts that we really want.  Christmas is not the time for receiving its the time for giving.

Many people don't plan out how they spend there money to buy Christmas presents.  I think many of us in the United States have gotten past the fact that Christmas isn't a time for receiving presents.  In my house hold we focus on remembering when Jesus was born.  We also go to church on Sunday and on Christmas Day.  Throughout the year my mom and dad get me and my sister items we want or need so during Christmas my parents don't get into debt.

This topic is very important to me because I think people  have gotten away from the true meaning of Christmas.  I think this is what society has done to us.  They steered us away from the values that were once among us Americans.

Choices

Many people make choices in there lives.  Some make good choices while others make bad choices.  Every choice in life that is made could lead you in the wrong direction.  Choices are pretty much the pros and cons of life.  Its pretty hard to make the right decision when in peer pressure, so it takes a lot out of you to stop and think about if the choice you make is a good one.

Let me give you some examples from my life about choices.

Last year I made some pretty bad choices.  I pretty much decided to fit in, but with the wrong crowd.  I guess you could say that I went against everyone that loved me and was there for me since day one.  Those bad choices I made for those several months cost me a great deal.  My grades began to drop, my friends and I began to drift apart and the lies just kept on coming that I didn't know what the truth was anymore.  Then summer came and slowly but surely I started to get back to my old self.  This year I am making way better grades than last year and taking school more seriously.

Making these better choices has turned my life around dramatically.  Every time I get stuck in a situation I always have to ask myself which choice is the best to make.  Even if you do have those ignorant people that you want to smack, make sure to remember to make the best choice.

Hungry?

Yesterday we watched and video about a boy, Max, who has Prader-Willi syndrome.  Prader-Willi syndrome is a genetic condition which is caused by the absence of chromosomal materials in chromosome 15.  Different people have different parts that are wrong with them but the most common is to have a big appetite all the time.  So, like Max many other people with this uncommon disease have to keep themselves occupied while they wait to eat at the right time.  This strive for hunger also makes many lose their temper when they don't get what they want when they want it.
If I ever had a kid with any disability I would still love and care for them.  I would research more about their disease so that I understand how I can help them over come their struggles.  If they ever asked me why they weren't "normal" I would tell them that neither is anyone else.  The word "normal" is a stereotype and everyone has their flaws.  I feel as though I would love my child the same whether they had a disease or not.
People discriminate against  many things, such as race, religion and if you have a disease.  When in fact if you actually got to talk to that person you would find many similarities.  Their disease makes them a little different than other people.  But like I said before no one in this world is considered normal.  I think of people with disease as people who are more special than us without a disease, and not special in the bad way but special in the good way.  If I ever had a disease I would want people to treat me the same as they already have been.

Penguins!

Amazing animals live in the Antarctic regions of the world.  They happen to be Penguins!!  Penguins are very unique animals because they live in the most coldest part of the world.  The reason they are able to live on these cold areas is because they have very stiff feathers to trap in heat.  The black and white feathers on the penguin have nothing to do with weather. They have to do with protection against predators.  When a penguin swims in the water and there is a predator under them, they wouldn't notice because the penguins white tummy blends in with the sun of the surface of water.  When a predator is flying above the penguin, while the penguin is in the water, the penguins black back blends in with the bottom of the waters ground.  Penguins are very unique animals and they do a very good job at living in a cold area of the Antarctic.

Recycle your Recycleables

The video we had watch Monday made me very mad that people seem to not care what they are doing to animals when they throw away there trash.  I mean I don't even recycle my items at home, but when I am out in public I do recycle my recycleables.  I also make sure that my family does too.
When I seen how many bottle caps birds have consumed it makes me not want to drink water bottles, but to buy the metal water bottles so I don't have to waste perfect plastic.  I think all of us in the United States should have to recycle those items that can be recycled and if there is food particles that can decompose in the ground then we should bury those food particles in the gound.  This change will help us make the United States a better place.  We also shouldn't litter. Police officers should crack down more on those who litter because a lot of birds and squirrels mistake our trash for food.  They then consume it and we become like murders because we killed innocent little creatures that just wanted to live.

Response to Video

I thought that this video told a lot about how most people in the army, navy, marines and the airforce feel when they come back home from Iraq and how they would rather us ask them how they are feeling.  My cousin has been in the marines but he was not deployed to Iraq.  He seems to be doing okay though. I wonder sometimes if he wishes that he could change his mind about being a marine.

If I was in the same position as James Miller I think I would probably feel the same way that he does.  I would be changed after spending just one second in Iraq.  Killing someone who doesn't have the same rights as you and your job is to take their life.  I couldn't deal with that everyday of my life.  I think that I would face the same problems and questions:  Why am I not dead and got to come back home?

I think he needs to maybe think of times when he felt as though what he did was not good.  Maybe he should go into a program wherehe could talk with other veterans that have been to Iraq.  And they all can share there stories to one another.  They can see if they have the same feelings like James Miller.

Challenge Day

Yesterday the sixteenth of September, I went to challenge day.  It was a very great experience.  I learned a lot about people who I would have never guessed faced the same problems as me.  This experience made me feel closer to those people in my class.  Challenge Day showed me how important it is to let all the feelings out that you keep trapped in side of you.

I also learned that you should act the way you want.  Not because people tell you to.  For example many boys are told to act as a man.  Sometimes they want to be compassionate, they want to cry, and they should be allowed to.  Crying is not a sign of weakness but a sign that you are alive.  Same thing goes for girls, moms are always saying to be a lady,  not to burb or fart or say fart.  this is the reason why boys believe that they can control us, because we let them.  We show them that we are not equal.

Those who have never done Challenge Day should consider doing it.  It is life changing event but in a better way.  Many people have stated that they changed the way they live after having gone to Challenge Day.

New Ipod

Last weekend I bought an Ipod classic.  I know it is not the greatest like the Ipod Touch but I find it pretty awesome.  The classic has 160 GB and can do pretty much the same thing as the touch.  The Ipod classic cost approximately 255 dollars.  I also bought a chrome case so I will not scratch my new Ipod classic.  There are many different types of cases that you can get for the classic.
The down falls of the classic are that it is very big.  Also it is a very fragile tool.  The classic takes a lot of responsibility to handle if you do not want it stolen.  They also only come in two colors, silver and black, I bought the black one. I really enjoy having the ipod classic it is my favorite music player by far.

Doll Face

The video Doll Face, on youtube, I believe tells a story of how the media has an affect on what you think about your self.  This shows by when the face on the robot starts to change the appearance by what they see on the television.  Many people change the way they look to fit in when they should just be themselves.
As the doll keeps moving forward with the television it keeps changing its face.  This to me shows how change happens and most people go along with the change.  When they look like someone on the television it makes them feel good.  But, when the people on the television start to change you feel as though you need to change with them.
When the television keeps moving but the robot can not,  it keeps on trying.  To me this means that the robot is obsessed with being like the face they see on the television.  The robot  eventually breaks the chain it is connected to and crushes its face.  This to me shows that the robot became to obsessed with looking like everyone else.  Finally, the chain the robot was on broke and crushed the face that it maked over.  When the face was crushed I thought that that meant that the television took over the robot making it do anything that went against how it already looked.

Summer

My summer break was very entertaining.  In June I went on vacation to Mississippi with my parents and sister.  In July, I went to Kings Island and celebrated my birthday.  In August I attended Band Camp.

The trip to Mississippi was a blast.  I visited relatives, went to a museum and went to the zoo.  My relatives are very fun and now how, for old people, to have a good time and make everyone laugh.  The museum I went to was Medgar Evers house.  The people in charge of perserving his house did a good job.  I learned a lot of information about how he was an activisit and what his family went through during the time of racism.

In July, my trip to Kings Island was fun.  Even though I got sick on the first ride I went on it was still and blast. I even rode the Diamond Back which I yelled on the whole time.  When I rode the Drop Tower I really was not ready for the drop and I was stunned the whole way down.  The view at the top of the Drop Tower was gorgeous, espically at night.  My fifteenth birthday was also in the month of July.  I celebrated it at Texas Roadhouse, and my friend Alaina and I seen Alice In Wonderland.

Band Camp was fun but very hard working.  We got a lot done and are ready for the first football game tonight.
